I agree that rooks are a problem. I would say no one with the exception of rookies can be released. And that rookies can only be released within the first two weeks of the season in which they are drafted (or however much time we decide is needed to evaluate them). Also any player that the computer automatically signs can be released in the first two weeks.

Guys with 1 and 0 year deals would become super valuable and eveyone would want them. Look at the NBA every time there are a couple of good free agents heaps of teams are tring to trade for 0 year guys that come off their cap, so they can go after them.

As long as the cap is high (75-80mil) i would think most smart GMs wouldn't actually get close to the cap. Always keeping a few mil avaiable for trades or renegotiations.

I also think with a high salary teams will have more room to bring in that big trade or whatever ...

<font color="white"> Lets say all GM's agree that each team starts with 50million in their respective bank accounts.

Now with time GM's will leave the league due to losing interest, being asked to leave due to breaking rules or just not having the additional funds to continue paying to play. Due to this new GM's will come into the league.

What I think would be good is that any new GM coming in the league starts with a set amount of money no matter what the bank account of that team looks like.

A new GM would automatically get lets say 25Million to start off with. If the prior GM had 100.00$ or 100Million it wouldnt matter ... all that would show is the 25Million for the new GM once he took over.

Realistically when a team is sold the new Owner doesnt keep the prior owners money does he? If Turner sold the Atlanta Braves he wouldnt just give all him money to the next guy. Yes the stadium, roster and any merch/contract would be upheld because those were already bought but this 25Million would represent what the new Owner/GM is bringing with him to the table.

What do some of you think about this idea?</font></font>

And i like the idea of any new user getting $25 Mil.

More than anything I want the game (this league) to change in many different way from the other leagues just to give a new challenge and face to the game I already love

However I think on many of these issues we are going to have a split within the league GMs and will have to find a happy medium.

... ... I think when most say RELEASE NO ONE others will say I dont like that at all ... ... where as a happy medium may be releasing only 0 year contracts or 0 and 1 year contracts.

... ... In all honesty with the GMs we have here, the rules be their upfront and everyone knowing them I really really doubt anyone will break them ... ... however anytime a contract is signed it shows it in the news section and then if its placed in a TOPIC ON THE FORUM for history purposes it wouldnt be to hard to keep track of ... ...

Again I think we all need to be open on our ideas and be ready for them to change slighty from how we may see or want them to get to a final decision and again a happy medium

But Im all for NOT RELEASING or only being able to release 1 and 0 year contracts</font>

id really prefer to be able to release 0 and 1 year contracts as i feel this covers the rookies thing and the fact that its common in real life for teams to have buyouts etc which we cant have and that teams can release players on minimum contracts without penalty in real life whereas we dont have that sort of thing here

so i guess im for 0 and 1 years being non gauranteed but if its only 0 years i can live with that too [img]smile.gif[/img] as FT said we all have to be willing to compromise on issues so this is just my opinion ill be in regardless it seems [img]smile.gif[/img]

You guys are right we do need to find a solution that everyone can live with. Maybe the 0 year can be that common ground. It shoud still have the same effect. So i can live with it. Also i think it will reduced the problems of the computer resigning plays at the end of the 0 year.

I am for the idea of only being allowed to release 0-1 year contracts.
